Each morning when I wake up, I immediately think of my Dad, who until recently was a young man, seemingly overnight (well since a couple of years when he had a minor stroke) he has become a sad man, he lost a good part of his eyesight in this stroke, he was already hard of hearing which became worse and was starting to have trouble walking around.
Well he is 91, after he had his stroke he could not watch TV or read the papers or drive his car, in one stroke his life as he knew it was over, his independence gone. He got on with his life for 18 months, driving his gopher around and doing garden maintenance. Mum didn't like driving the car anywhere but their home town so their outings became few and far between.
