Day 1 .. Flinders Ranges 2014

An easy day today, leaving Waikerie, destination Flinders Ranges.

We travelled through what seemed to be hundreds of miles of vineyards and orange groves, YUM, picked up some windfalls from a tree near the road.  Continued over the Murray, strange to cross the Murray without changing States, filled up with petrol at Blanchetown and after speaking with the operator, we decided to backtrack about 10k and take the road to Morgan and cross the Murray on the ferry.

After that little interlude we were on our way to Burra, some 85k away, passing through some saltbush desert on a really decent road.  Tasmania should take note, South Australia secondary roads are far superior to any road in Tasmania.

The distant hills we saw turned out to be the hills around Burra, fertile soil with fat sheep and lovely green pastures.  We stopped here for lunch.

Still had about 250k to go, just took it easy, stopped to refill with petrol at Peterborough and stopped a few more times to photograph settler's ruins.
